Increasing demand on aesthetic dental restorations, spreading of digital cameras, easily sharing of the digital images increased the tendency of dentists to take digital dental photographs. Usage of SLR cameras and macro lenses are standard for dental photographs. By learning simple techniques and with some practice, clinicians can have excellent intra oral and extra oral photographs. These photographs can be used for documentation, increasing communication with patients and colleagues and laboratory, can provide auto control, and could better defend themselves in legal matters. Estetiğin ön planda olduğu uygulamaların artması, dijital fotoğraf sistemlerinin yaygınlaşması ve fotoğrafların daha kolay paylaşılabilmesi dişhekimlerinin fotoğraf çekme eğilimlerini arttırmıştır. Medikal ve oral mukozanın fotoğraflarında SLR fotoğraf makineleri ve makro objektiflerin kullanımı standart hale gelmiştir. Hekimler basit çekim tekniklerini öğrenerek ve bir miktar uygulama ile mükemmel ağız içi ve ağız dışı fotoğraflar çekebilirler. Bu fotoğraflar ile hastalarını dökümante edebilir, hasta-laboratuvar ve meslektaşları ile iletişimlerini arttırabilir, otokontrol sağlayabilir ve olası hukuki sorunlarda kendilerini daha iyi savunabilirler.
