Maintenance of Photochemotherapy

Phototherapy and photochemotherapy are widely used effective treatment modalities for many skin diseases. The data regarding the efficacy of maintenance narrowband ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) and psoralen and UVA (PUVA) therapies, the most commonly used photo(chemo) therapy methods, in the literature are limited and controversial. In this review article, the data and guidelines in the literature regarding maintenance NB-UVB and PUVA therapy in psoriasis, mycosis fungoides and vitiligo, and maintenance photo(chemo)therapy applications in Başkent University and other photo(chemo) therapy centers are presented. Prospective, double-blind, randomized, controlled, long-term multicenter studies using standard treatment protocols are needed to obtain the best data about the efficacy and safety of maintenance photo(chemo)therapy applications.

Foto(kemo)terapide İdame

Fototerapi ve fotokemoterapi pek çok deri hastalığında etkinlikleri kanıtlanmış, günümüzde çok yaygın olarak kullanılan tedavi yöntemleridir. En sık kullanılan foto(kemo)terapi yöntemleri olan dar band ultraviyole B (DB-UVB) ile psoralen ve UVA (PUVA)’daki idame tedavilerinin etkinliğine ilişkin bilgiler sınırlı ve çelişkilidir. Bu derlemede, DB-UVB ve PUVA tedavilerinin en sık kullanıldıkları deri hastalıkları olan psoriazis, mikozis fungoides ve vitiligoda idame tedavilerine ait literatürdeki bilgiler ve
öneriler ile Başkent Üniversitesi’ndeki ve Türkiye’nin diğer foto(kemo)terapi merkezlerindeki idame foto(kemo) terapi uygulamalarından bahsedilecektir. İdame foto(kemo) terapi uygulamalarının etkinliği ve güvenilirliğine ilişkin en doğru bilginin elde edilebilmesi için, ileri dönük, çift-kör, rastgele, kontrol gruplu, uzun izlem süreli, standart tedavi protokollerinin uygulandığı çok merkezli çalışmalara gereksinim vardır.
