Background and Design: We have designed this preliminary study, since there is no study about familial involvement and hereditary side of psoriasis, in Turkish literature. Materials and Methods: All the patients visiting our outpatient polyclinic in two months have been examined for any psoriatic lesion clinically. Both psoriatic and nonpsoriatic patients have been interrogated about the other psoriatic patients in their family and close relations. Results: 86 out of 1392 patients have been diagnosed as psoriasis. 29 out of 86 psoriatic patients have had a story about psoriatic family members (33.7 %). 48 out of 1306 nonpsoriatic patients have also had a story about psoriatic family members and close relations (3.7 %). The difference was significant statistically (_2=1180, p=0.0001). Conclusion: It seems that familial involvement is important in Turkish Psoriatic population, but the ratio is lower than our classical knowledges.
